Sneak Peek:

Moments Later….

SPLASH! Christopher shot out of the vortex at an unbelievable rate of speed and found himself upright, standing knee deep in the middle of a swamp that sat at the base of what appeared to be a thick, deep, and dark jungle forest. The trees were so tall that the canopy above seemed to emulate what we would normally perceive as the night’s sky – the scale was immense. Christopher was happy to have landed on his feet, instead of sliding in face first or tumbling through the bog. He thought to himself, “I am getting better at this,” remembering the first two attempts that landed him once in stinking chicken remnants and in another instance with a massive bump on the back of his huge head after being sent toppling down an uneven street and against an ally garbage can. His balance and orientation within the vortex portal were becoming more controlled.

“Time to assess the situation,” Christopher thought to himself, and began scanning his own body. Much to his surprise, things were starting off along the weird scale at an extremely high level. The first thing he noticed was that he was standing upright on what looked like two legs. He was humanoid, but his legs looked a bit odd. Looking closer, he noticed that they were jointed or segmented and separated by tiny hinges. He knocked on his legs and noticed that there was a solid sound – he had an exoskeleton. But he noticed something else in the process. The hand that knocked did not look like a hand. It had a claw-like appearance, like a crayfish back home. And there was not one, but two of them extending from arms that had a similar characteristic to his legs, but slightly skinnier. The color seemed to be a mix of auburn and black, and he was not wearing clothing. Christopher started thinking, “Six legs, exoskeleton, claws for hands….” He needed to see his head. He searched the swamp for a pool that might provide a reflective quality so he could get a better feeling for who or what he was in this new environment. After some quick movements that were primarily uncoordinated at best, he saw a calm pooled up puddle a few feet away. He moved quickly to it, trying not to fall over, and stumbled forward, disturbing the water’s reflective clarity. Christopher stood still, allowing the water to resettle, and within a few seconds, there he was in all his new glory! Christopher was an insect. Specifically, he was a humanoid ant. He had an ant’s appearance with a large head, complete with mandibles….and yes, with sky blue eyes and a tuft of jet-black hair between two antennae on the top of his head. He stood up, let out a deep breath, and said, while placing his two upper arm claws on his thorax (waste) – “Perfect!”
